Terms of service

These terms are between you and AI Text-a-roo (“we”, “us”), based in Ontario, Canada. They cover aitextaroo.com, our API and MCP server, and the texting service (together, “the service”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

If you use the service for an organization, you're agreeing for it too, and you confirm you're allowed to.

AI Text-a-roo gives your AI agent a phone number, so you can text it and it can text you back. Agents connect with an API key or by signing in through an AI app. A connected agent can text you and read your replies, check and set your security PIN, and forward your texts to a web address (a webhook). On Pro, it can also text your contacts, whose replies come to your phone.

Your AI's number belongs to us, not you, and it may be shared with other users; we route each text to the right account. If we need to change your AI's number, we'll text you the new one.

You must be at least 18 and able to make a binding contract. You must sign up with a mobile number that's yours, or that you're allowed to use. Sign-up currently works with US and Canadian mobile numbers.

• There are no passwords. You sign up and sign in with your phone number and a 6-digit code we text to it, on our website or in an AI app.
• Your phone is the key to your account. Keep it, and the codes we text you, to yourself: give a code only to our sign-in page or your own agent, never to a person who asks for it. If you lose your phone or change your number, email us.
• Keep your API keys secret: anyone with one can act as your AI.
• You're responsible for what happens on your account, including what your keys and connected apps do. If you think someone else has access, remove the key or app sign-in they're using, or sign out everything, on your dashboard, and tell us.
• We text you about your account: sign-in codes, security notices (such as a new key or app, or a PIN or forwarding change) and limit alerts. They're part of the service.

You choose which agents and apps to connect and what to ask them. You're responsible for what they do with your account, as if you'd done it yourself: the texts they send, the people they text, and where they forward your texts.

AI agents make mistakes. They can misunderstand you, be fooled by a misleading or spoofed text, or send something you didn't intend. Check anything important, turn on a security PIN for sensitive actions, and only connect agents you trust.

Connected apps, such as ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and OpenClaw, are run by others under their own terms and privacy policies. We don't control them and aren't responsible for them.

Don't use AI Text-a-roo, or let your agents use it, to:

• send spam, bulk or unsolicited texts, or marketing to anyone who hasn't agreed to it;
• text people who don't expect to hear from you, or keep texting someone who has asked you to stop;
• break anti-spam, telemarketing or privacy laws, including Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), the U.S. Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and do-not-call rules;
• harass, threaten or deceive anyone, or pretend to be someone you're not;
• send illegal content, or content mobile carriers don't allow, such as hate speech, sexually explicit material, or anything that exploits or endangers children;
• send scams, phishing or malicious links, or collect people's information under false pretences;
• sign up with a number you're not allowed to use, share or resell access, or get around our limits;
• create artificial traffic, such as pumping texts to premium or international numbers; or
• probe, attack or overload the service, or try to get into other people's accounts or data.

We may block texts, remove connections or suspend accounts that break these rules.

On Pro, your AI can text other people for you, and their replies come to your phone. You're the sender of those texts, and you're responsible for them. So:

• Only text people who know you and expect to hear from you this way, such as family, friends or people you work with. It's not for marketing or cold outreach.
• Make it clear who the text is from.
• Stop texting anyone who asks you to stop or replies STOP.
• Follow the laws that apply to you and to them, including CASL and the TCPA.

Their replies are forwarded to you for an hour after you or your AI last texted them, within the usage limits below.

AI Text-a-roo can't reach 911 or any other emergency service, and it's no substitute for one. Texts can be delayed or lost, and your AI may not answer. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number. Don't rely on the service for anything where a missed or late text could cause harm, such as medical alerts.

AI Text-a-roo is a two-way texting service between you and your AI agent. Here's what to expect:

• Opting in. You opt in by signing up with your own mobile number and confirming it with the code we text you, or by texting your AI's number. You'll get sign-in codes, security notices, limit alerts and the texts your AI sends you.
• Frequency. Message frequency varies with how you and your AI use the service.
• Costs. Message and data rates may apply. Your AI's number is a US number, so if yours isn't, your carrier may charge international rates.
• Opting out. Reply STOP to your AI's number and it stops texting you, which pauses the service for you. Reply START to turn its texts back on. For help, see our docs or email hello@aitextaroo.com.
• Delivery. Carriers aren't liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
• Numbers and coverage. Your AI's number is a US local number (10DLC) through our carrier, Telnyx. Sign-up works with US and Canadian mobile numbers, and texts to contacts can go to the US, Canada and some other countries.
• Privacy. See Text messages in our privacy policy.

• Free is $0, with 10 messages a day. No card needed.
• Pro is $5 (US dollars) a month, with 200 messages a day and texting your contacts. Upgrade from your dashboard or with a checkout link your agent gets for you. Payments are processed by Stripe.
• Free trial. Pro starts with a 14-day free trial. You add a card at checkout, and the first charge comes when the trial ends, unless you cancel before then.
• Renewal. Pro renews automatically every month, charged to your card on file, until you cancel.
• Cancelling. Cancel anytime from your dashboard (“Manage Subscription” opens Stripe). You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for, then move to Free. Cancel during the trial and you won't be charged.
• Failed payments. If a payment fails, your account moves to Free until it goes through.
• Refunds. Payments aren't refundable, and we don't give credits for part of a month or for unused messages, except where the law requires.
• Price changes. We'll tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to you. It starts with your next billing period after that, and you can cancel before then.
• Taxes. Prices don't include taxes. If we have to charge tax, we'll show it at checkout.

• Each plan has a daily message limit (Free: 10, Pro: 200) that resets at midnight UTC. Texts your AI sends, contacts' replies forwarded to you and your “>” replies count; your own texts to your AI don't. Once the day's limit is reached, texts pause both ways until it resets.
• Agents can send up to 5 texts a minute, each up to 1,600 characters.
• A contact's replies are forwarded at most 20 an hour and 50 a day, and stop for the day once 80% of your limit is used.
• Each account can have up to 10 API keys.

Our pricing and docs explain the limits in detail. We may change limits to protect the service, our carriers and other users, and we'll update the docs when we do.

We work to keep AI Text-a-roo running, but we don't promise it will always be available, on time or free of errors. Texts depend on carriers and networks we don't control, and can be delayed, filtered or lost. We don't keep your texts, so we can't recover one that wasn't delivered.

We may change, add or remove features. If we shut the service down, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and refund any Pro fees you've paid for time after it ends.

You can stop using AI Text-a-roo anytime. To close your account, email hello@aitextaroo.com. We'll cancel any Pro subscription and delete your information as our privacy policy describes.

We may suspend or close your account, or block texts to or from it, if you break these terms, if your use puts other people, the service or our carrier relationships at risk, or if the law or a carrier requires it. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

When your account closes, your keys and connected apps stop working. Parts of these terms that by their nature should continue, like the limits on liability, still apply.

Your texts are yours. You let us carry, process and deliver them only to provide the service, as our privacy policy describes. You're responsible for what you and your agents send, and you confirm you have the right to send it.

The service, this website and the AI Text-a-roo name and logo are ours. Our open-source client library, bridge and Agent Skill on GitHub come with their own MIT license.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.

The service relies on other companies, including our SMS carrier (Telnyx) and payment processor (Stripe), and works with AI apps we don't control. Their terms apply to your use of their services, and we aren't responsible for them.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including that it's of merchantable quality, fit for a particular purpose, or free of errors. We don't promise that texts will arrive, that your agent will act correctly, or that the service will meet your needs.

Some laws, including consumer protection laws in Ontario and elsewhere, don't allow some of these exclusions or the limits below. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under laws that can't be waived.

To the fullest extent the law allows:

• we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill;
• we aren't liable for what your agents or connected apps do, or for texts that carriers or networks delay, lose or misdeliver; and
• our total liability for all claims about the service is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50.

These limits apply whatever the legal theory, even if we knew the damage was possible. They don't limit liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

To the extent the law allows, you'll indemnify us: you'll cover claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your use of the service, what your agents and connected apps do with your account, texts sent to your contacts, or your breaking these terms or the law.

We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you at least 14 days before it takes effect, by text or on our website. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the new terms. If you don't agree, stop using the service and close your account.

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute about them or the service goes to the courts of Ontario, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it in your local courts.

• These terms and our privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the service.
• If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
• If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
• You can't transfer your account or these terms to anyone else without our written permission. We may transfer them if AI Text-a-roo is sold or reorganized.
• Neither of us is responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
