# Text Hermes Agent from any phone, without Twilio

> Give Hermes Agent its own phone number with the AI Text-a-roo bridge. No Twilio account or webhook needed. Text it from any phone and get replies by SMS.

Install the aitextaroo package, verify your phone, and run aitextaroo-bridge --agent hermes. Your texts become Hermes prompts and its replies come back by SMS, without setting up your own Twilio account.

## Set up Hermes

1. Install:

   ```
   pipx install aitextaroo
   ```
2. Verify your phone. It asks for your number and the 6-digit code, then saves your API key:

   ```
   aitextaroo-setup --save
   ```
3. Run the bridge:

   ```
   aitextaroo-bridge --agent hermes
   ```

- Hermes can also send SMS through your own Twilio account. AI Text-a-roo is the no-Twilio option.
