# Let Cursor's agent text you with AI Text-a-roo

> Add AI Text-a-roo to Cursor's mcp.json so its agent can text you when background work finishes or needs a decision, and read your reply.

Canonical: https://aitextaroo.com/agents/cursor · Updated: 2026-10-23

Add an aitextaroo entry to ~/.cursor/mcp.json with the MCP URL and an Authorization header that reads your API key from the environment. Cursor's agent can then text you and wait for your reply.

## Set up Cursor

1. Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

   ```
   {
     "mcpServers": {
       "aitextaroo": {
         "url": "https://api.aitextaroo.com/mcp",
         "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:AITEXTAROO_API_KEY}" }
       }
     }
   }
   ```
2. Set AITEXTAROO_API_KEY in your shell, restart Cursor, and check the server is enabled under MCP settings.

## What works today

- Cursor texts you: Yes
- You text Cursor: Partly. The agent reads your reply when it's waiting with wait_for_reply.
- Texts your contacts (Pro): Yes
- PIN approvals: Yes

## Things to ask Cursor

- “When the background agent opens a PR, text me the link.”
