# Text Claude Code from your phone, and get a text when it's done

Install the AI Text-a-roo plugin (or add the remote MCP server with one claude mcp add command), and Claude Code can text you when it finishes or gets stuck, then wait for your reply. To start tasks by text, run aitextaroo-bridge: every text you send becomes a Claude Code prompt and the answer comes back by SMS.

## Set up Claude Code

1. Install the plugin, which bundles the MCP server and the Agent Skill. In a Claude Code session:

   ```
   /plugin marketplace add rwfresh/aitextaroo-clients
   /plugin install aitextaroo@aitextaroo
   ```
2. Run /mcp and sign in to aitextaroo with your phone. There's no API key to copy, and we'll text you that the app is connected.
3. Or add only the MCP server, with your API key (user scope, so every project gets it):

   ```
   claude mcp add --transport http --scope user aitextaroo https://api.aitextaroo.com/mcp \
     --header "Authorization: Bearer $AITEXTAROO_API_KEY"
   ```
4. Ask: “When you finish this, text me a summary with AI Text-a-roo and wait for my reply.”
5. To text Claude Code from your phone, run the bridge:

   ```
   pipx install aitextaroo
   aitextaroo-setup --save
   aitextaroo-bridge --agent claude
   ```

- “When the test suite passes, text me and ask whether to open a PR. Wait for my answer.”
- “If you get blocked for more than 10 minutes, text me what you need.”

## Good to know

- Claude Code Channels connect to Telegram, Discord and iMessage on macOS, but not SMS. AI Text-a-roo works from any phone.
- Don't run the bridge and an in-session wait_for_reply on the same account at once: a waiting session takes your next text first.
